if you saw the nightstand on my side of the bed every morning, you would know beyond the shadow of a doubt that i am a pregnant lady. picture this: bottle of water, empty edamame pods, a bowl of leftover popcorn kernels, and an economy size bottle of tums. before i sat down to write, i tidied that area up so it was the freshest thing on my mind. so i shared it. it hasn't got a thing to do with this post. hello, ADHD.
i got my bangs trimmed on friday. it only takes five minutes...so i never opt for a sitter for this adventure. however, i do choose to do this during those three hours that nathan is in school. that way, i only have one little to wrangle. she sits on my lap while flipping through all the pictures on my phone. she loves to review our latest outings. and before you know it, bangs are done. lickedy-split (i've been dying to use that word again.).
i'm forever amazed at how the smallest trim can make you feel so good. and skinnier (don't ask how but it did.). since it wasn't my idea of a real deal spa day--since lucy was in tow, i conformed. spa day for two, baybee!! after we got home, we picked out the prettiest spring color i had. yes, i know it isn't spring but the weather is so fitting...so, we went for it. i was ready for a seasonal inspired change. even if the season hasn't yet caught up.
brother was playing in our vicinity while we dolled up. he kept looking over and when i would glance at him, he would turn his head real quick in hopes that i didn't see him stare. you know that feeling when you are trying to scope something out, in a sneak-like manner? i never mentioned that painting toes is for girls, but there was this innate nature within him that knew this wasn't an activity for him. he even blurted out, "i don't want my toes painted, mommy....it's for girls.". i never asked him in the first place, he was just clarifying.
then i decided to mess with him a little. after i painted up lucy's piggies, i said, "your turn brother!" (knowing he wasn't going to take part.) and he runs to his room-laughing, saying, "ewwwwwww....no thank you.", and hides under his covers.
he's a cutie.
that left us with cute bangs, cute toes, and cute spring dresses on. now i just needed to go shopping. and i sure do hope that lucy gets her shopping taste from me. i might be able to pay for her college if she does. i am such a goodwill girl. i love anything vintage or unique, and thifting is the best way to find such a treasure.
i did find some great dresses and a pair of fabulous flats. aren't these shoes the cutest?
told ya.
that completed our spay day, in full. hair cut, pedicures, and some retail therapy. on a major budget, too.
i really needed friday. who says you need a babysitter to pamper yourself?
oh saturday. saturday is my most favorite day of the week. anyone remember why? anyone? okay, i'll spill it...NATHAN IS ALL MINE--ALL DAY LONG!!! not that i am screaming that in pure excitement or anything.
we had a birthday party on the schedule. those are my favorite. lots of little people, over-the-moon, over someone elses big day. and if you throw in a bouncy house...we ain't leaving any time soon. and especially now that both of my babies fully comprehend what "we are going to a birthday party!!" means.
nathan got so excited when i said, "okay...it's time to get ready for the party.", that he did a little spin thingy while he ran up to me with the juiciest smile and blurts out, "YAY..YOU ARE SOOOO BEAUTIFUL, MOMMY!!!"
so let me get this straight...i say, "let's get ready for the party", and that makes me beautiful?? i'll take it!! i'll take it!! i'll freaking take it!!! that boy spits out compliments left and right...to everyone. sweetest child ever.
on the way to the party, he looked over at lucy and said, "i love you, lucy. your dress is pretty...and you are a good girl."
no seriously...someone needs to stop me from hugging him to hard sometimes. i just think that his sweetness is unmatched...by anyone. such kindness dwells inside that boy. i'm so friggin' proud to be his mommy.
at last, we arrive. their excitement level couldn't be bottled up any longer. they needed to make a mad dash to the nearest bouncy house. and i mean quick. shoes flung off while little people were expressing how happy they were that, "NATHAN AND LUCY ARE HERE!!!".
my babies only came out of that bounce house for a swig of water, or a piece of watermelon.
they also came out to grab balloons.
can we just talk about these UH-DOR-UH-BLE piggy tails?
i swear, she's killing me with her new found hair growth. throwing her hair up in the mornings is the very first thing i do. joyfully.
anyway, back to the bounce house...when i would peek in at them, every so often, nathan would say, "mommy....watch this!", while he would proceed to give me a stellar performance, with high hopes that i would deliver a crowd pleasing, "wow, nathan...you are SOOOOOO awesome at that."
and of course i did. to all the kids, not just mine. they were all sure to show out, one-by-one. never under estimate how far a, "that was awesome!" can go in the eyes of a child. in my opinion...that i fully believe is a fact, haha....i think that praising a child is next in line to air. in my book, it's that necessary.
after four solid hours of bouncing, all the little people were barely hanging in there. it was time to load my crew up. i love when i don't have to pry them away from something they are enjoying, and they leave willingly. it just makes my exit so much smoother. it's not that they weren''t enjoying themselves any more...they had their bellies crammed full. fun had vibrated through each little body part to the point of pure exhaustion. on the ride home, we listened to soft praise music in hopes to create a relaxing vibe.
nathan starred out the window-in a slumber, while lucy drifted fast asleep. i enjoyed the ride home with views from my rear-view of some exhausted babies that had one more good time. and man, that feels good.
on sunday, the husband took us all to breakfast. this makes two weeks in a row. i smell a sunday family tradition brewing...and i dig it. we just throw on some sweats and head out. its so nice to sip our coffee around a different table. it's also just nice to all be together. everything is funner when daddy's in the mix.
as i was hoping, sunday was lazy. as in, after church...we barely moved. it was so very nice. i love busy weeks that end in laze.
however, nathan and lucy love busy weeks that end in a bath tub full of bubbles.
i just had to blow some bubbles to make our grand finale, grander.
since they had their grand finale, i'm treating myself to the oscars tonight while i drill a sleeve of girl scout thin mints, frozen.
hollah.
pause button please!!
